This website has been through a lot of changes. I started it as a blog to share my faith and then it evolved into my writing portfolio and a place to give advice to aspiring freelance writers. Finally, I ditched the blog part altogether and just used it as a marketing page for my writing services.
There was nothing wrong with any of that, but here’s the thing – it wasn’t what God originally put on my heart to do with it. Here’s what happens when you waffle: the enemy gets a foothold. And friend, let me tell you, he sure did with me. I mean, he dug his heels in and put down roots. I went through a living hell for almost a year until I finally stood to my feet and shouted at the top of my lungs “ENOUGH!” Actually, it started with a squeak through sobs, but it eventually grew into a shout in my heart.
I’ve had enough…
And I’m back with a vengeance!
I’m telling you this because you need to know that when God calls you to do something, you need to go after it with all your heart, all your soul and every ounce of your will. The enemy WILL attack you, but if you are firm in the faith that you have a purpose and will not back down, he won’t win. Because “the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in this world.” [1 John 4:4]
Here’s the thing – the enemy attacks you no matter what. In fact, when you’re on the right path, he will come down on you with everything he’s got. The decision you will have to make is whether to drop anchor until the storm passes or to cut the rope and be tossed into the sea.
When you cave in and give up the quest like I did, things might seem easier for a while, because Satan wants you to believe you’re doing the right thing. But you’ve actually opened the door and let him inside your house. He’s camped out in your basement and you don’t even know it. He’ll sneak upstairs and rob you blind while you sleep. That Chunky Monkey Ben and Jerry’s ice cream you’ve been saving – he will eat it – right out of the carton.
The fact is I don’t believe God washes His hands of us when we get out of His will, but just like when you tell your child not to play in the street, God tells us not to do certain things for our own protection. I believe being in His will is the place of higher authority. The place He has called us to be is where He has given us authority to be. It’s the blessing place.
Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it. Luke 11:28
So, what did Satan do to drag me down. Well, that’s a story for a different day. The point of this story is to tell you that you CAN be victorious if you keep picking yourself up and keep your eyes on the Lord. I’m living proof that you can not only survive, but you can let God lift you up, kick the devil in the teeth and keep on moving.
The best way to defeat the enemy is to keep doing what God has called you to do, no matter what he throws at you. Find the path God has for you, go after it with ferocity, never let down your guard and never, never, NEVER give up!
